The Mandurah Convention Centre is closing down due to “ongoing breaches of lease conditions”, according to Australian Sailing Museum (ASM) spokesperson Ian Duncan.
The convention centre business, which moved to the old Australian Sailing Museum on Ormsby Terrace earlier this year, released information this week stating it was closing due to the ASM closure.
However Mr Duncan said this was not the case.
“The building has not been sold, however negotiations have begun with a potential new lessee for future use of the premises,” Mr Duncan said.
“It is the intention of the new operators, subject to council approval, to continue using the building as a function centre and coffee shop during the week and as a church venue on Sundays.”
