ON FACEBOOK Chiefs describes his style as elevator music, something which couldn’t be more wrong.
Featured on iTunes’ New and Noteworthy section just days after the release of his EP Inside Out, this Melbourne producer is heading to Mandurah to show that he is so much more than just the tunes heard while travelling between floors.
Working with friend and fellow musician Nick Acquroff on this latest release, Chiefs’ smooth beats are paired with soulful vocals.
It’s a perfect match and one which the Melbourne producer said may appear again in the future.
“Nick’s got quite a deep voice,” Chiefs said.
“It’s compared with Chet Faker and a lot of his stuff his quite soulful.
“My stuff is a little bit dark as well so it works.”
A newcomer the west, Chiefs’ performance at Hooch Fest is going to be one of his first here.
And while he said he’s excited to see what the state has in store for him, Chiefs admits it is a bit nerve wracking, especially when playing his new material.
“You never know how they’re going to react,” he said.
“I’ve tested some of the songs at recent shows and so far, so good.”
Hooch Fest is on December 6.
