A MANDURAH man who assaulted a shop assistant who told him to “have a good day” was fined $500 in the local magistrates court on Friday.
Maanu Reihana, 37, pleaded guilty to common assault in relation to the incident which happened on October 8.
The court heard Mr Reihana made a purchase at the Mandurah Forum Liquorland store before the 21-year-old victim wished him a good day.
Mr Reihana then grabbed the young man by the throat and pulled him towards the counter.
Counsel for Mr Reihana said her client had thought the shop assistant was being sarcastic.
As well as being fined Mr Reihana was also ordered to pay court costs of $150.80.
