AN ALL-ROUND performance by Michael Holmes has put South Mandurah a game ahead at the top of the ladder.
South Mandurah won the toss and went into bat, scoring 8/226 from their 50 overs against Halls Head at Peelwood Turf.
Michael Holmes top-scored with 76, while Brad Holmes (30) and Brandon Hill (32) played cameo innings to get them to more than 200.
Michael has the best batting average in the competition this season with 336 runs at 56 from his six matches.
He also did the damage in the field taking three wickets for 20 runs off his nine overs and inflicted a run-out to end the game.
Alex Dillon (47) and Ryan Burns (35) got Halls Head off to a good start at 1/84, before Halls Head lost 5/1 at the end of the innings to give South Mandurah the win.
In other games, Shoalwater Bay lost their second game in a row after Adam Scott took 4/36 for White Knights Baldivis as they won their third game of the season at Stan Twight East Turf.
Leigh Sibley scored his highest score of the season (45) to lead Baldivis to 171 from 49 overs.
The Shoalwater Bay bowlers bowled 27 wides on their way to 34 extras.
Shoalwater Bay was then bowled out for 164 after Sam McKay and Seth Kennedy were out to Scott to lose by seven runs.
At Pinjarra Turf, a six-wicket hall to Joseph Slade helped Pinjarra defeat Mandurah by 48 runs.
Joshua Gorman and Chris Zadow came together to make an 83-run partnership to steer Pinjarra to 5/245 from their 50 overs.
Slade than ripped through the top order dismissing four of the top batsman with opener Dylan Smith providing the only resistance with 65 runs.
It was Slade’s second five-wicket haul of the season after he took 5/24 against Halls Head earlier in the season.
He has now taken 17 wickets from his six matches at an average of 6.6.
At Warnbro Turf, Marcus Bell also took 6/23 to help his side to their second win of the year.
A 106-run partnership by Keren and Liam Ugle for Warnbro helped them get to 7/197.
They then lost 10/43 with Bell and Liam Ugle (2/5) doing most of the damage.
Bell’s figures of 6/23 are the best figures for any bowler this season with Slade’s 6/31 the second overall best figures.
In the game at Meadow Springs Turf, Singleton Irwinians won the toss and sent Waroona in to bat.
Waroona were bowled out for 47 off 27.4 overs after Andrew Peckover took 4/5 from seven overs and Greg Dowell and Jacob Brownley chimed in with two each.
Singleton Irwinians made 150 from 40.4 overs with Bryce Evans scoring 37.
Ganesh Chaudhari took 3/36 and Mitchell Morley took 3/20 off seven overs on debut.
