WESTERN Australia’s leading greyhound trainer Linda Britton will be forced to face an inquiry after one of her champion dogs tested positive to a controlled substance.
Zelemar Fever, from the Britton stable of chasers was found to have androstane and a metabolite of testosterone at a concentration greater than 10ng/ml following races in August.
Post-race urine samples were taken from the greyhound on August 16 and 23 following races at Cannington Greyhounds.
The samples were tested by the ChemCentre in Perth and have been verified by the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory in NSW.
Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) racing integrity general manager Denis Borovica said stewards would inquire into these reports accordingly.
Britton has been formally requested to attend the inquiry which will be held at the RWWA Stewards’ Room at Ascot Racecourse later this month.
Zelemar Fever has been side-lined from racing during the inquiry and is not permitted to compete in or be nominated for any event until the investigation is finished.
The Mandurah Mail is seeking comment from Britton.
