ALCOA employee Damian Keeley has been named the Rotary Club of Mandurah and Peel Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pride in Workmanship Award winner.
Mr Keeley, a production group leader at the Pinjarra Refinery, was one of 17 employees from across the Peel region nominated by their peers and managers for their commitment and passion to the workplace.
The judges unanimously selected Mr Keeley as the overall winner of the award.
Mr Keeley said he was surprised when his name was called out.
“Winning the award has reinforced to me that the way I carry out my tasks is having a positive impact on those around me," he said.
"I am playing my part in helping Pinjarra become the best refinery in the world.
“Alcoa has played such a big part in my life. I started as an operator 21 years ago at Pinjarra Refinery and since then I have been lucky enough to have been offered many opportunities during this time.
“I have worked with some great people during this time and the hard work and dedication they show on a daily basis is what makes coming to work so worthwhile.”
Refinery manager Simon Pascoe said he was proud of Mr Keeley's efforts and for being recognised in the community for his work achievements.
“He is extremely dedicated to his job, Alcoa and the people he works with on a daily basis," Mr Pascoe said.
"Damian consistently works hard, while always displaying the highest level of professionalism."
Refinery employee Bryan Cleminson was also a finalist in the awards.
