A NEW piece of Aboriginal artwork unveiled on Friday will help promote Indigenous culture at South Halls Head Primary School.
Australian Indigenous education officer Jo Bell worked with students for several weeks to create a fabric wall hanging that depicts the six seasons of the year for Noongar people.
Through the use of painting and appliqué, the artwork depicts what flowers and plants are in season throughout the year and what the weather will be like.
“I’m really rapt with how it has turned out, it will help highlight Aboriginal culture within the school and the local community,” Ms Bell said.
“The art teacher Dana Gatti helped put it together and it will be displayed in the library."
The school received a grant from the Department of Indigenous Affairs to complete the project.
