DAWESVILLE residents will be celebrating after the announcement of two separate shopping facilities on the southern side of the Port Bouvard Bridge, less than one kilometre apart.
Dawesville's first shopping centre is nearing completion on Dawesville Road, just off Old Coast Road, with a January 2015 scheduled opening.
Already committed to the Dawesville site is IGA, both supermarket and liquor, and Chemmart with tenancies still available.
Now the region's residents have further reason to celebrate with the announcement Coles has committed to a new shopping site in local estate Florida Beach, 900 metres from the Dawesville site.
The 2.28-hectare block on the corner of Dandaragan Drive and Bailey Boulevard was sold by H&N Perry earlier this year after the WA Planning Commission approved the site for a shopping centre.
After indicating an early interest, Coles has since been successful in purchasing the property.
The site is expected to yield up to 5000sqm of retail floorspace, according to H&N Perry.
The two separate facilities will assist residents in Dawesville and further south to Lake Clifton who previously travelled to Falcon to basic essentials.
No time frame has been set for the Florida Beach project as yet.
