THE man at the centre of a Coodanup police raid this week has faced court.
Joshua Te Awhitu Winikerei appeared in custody at Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.
He was not required to plead to a string of charges which include two counts of aggravated common assault, one count of common assault, stealing, deprivation of liberty and threatening to kill.
Mr Winikerei was arrested after allegedly chaining his partner to his vehicle by the feet and holding a gun to her head on Monday morning.
He is also alleged to have threatened to shoot the woman in the head and to have struck her repeatedly to the face and body.
The alleged victim managed to call for help after Mr Winikerei dropped his phone in the car.
Tactical Response Group officers stormed the Bertram Street property where Mr Winikerei had earlier driven with his partner.
Detectives then spent much of the day investigating the home and vehicle where the alleged offences happened.
No firearm was found and counsel for the accused said her client denied having a gun.
Mr Winikerei was denied bail with the prosecutor describing him as a flight risk.
The charges were described as “extremely serious” and Magistrate Vivien Edwards said she was concerned for the safety and welfare of the victim.
He was remanded in custody to reappear on October 14.
