ADAM Reinhardt has been selected in the Australian men’s junior development volleyball program after he represented Western Australia at the National Schools Championship in Adelaide.
As part of the program the Mandurah Baptist College (MBC) student will travel to Bendigo, Victoria to take part in a camp from December 12-18.
Reinhardt will already be in Melbourne with his school volleyball team for the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup which runs from December 5-12.
It will be the fourth time Reinhardt has represented his school at the schools cup.
It was the first time Reinhardt represented WA at the National Schools Championship where he was also selected as vice captain.
“It was an honour,” Reinhardt said.
Reinhardt said the team performed well at the national coming away in fourth place.
The team narrowly missed out of the final and played off in the bronze medal match which they unfortunately lost.
“I was pretty happy with the outcome,” he said.
“I didn’t know any of the guys before; they were a good bunch.”
Reinhardt said the team weren’t able to get a lot of match practise in before the competition which made the outcome even better.
The year 10 student has been playing volleyball for four years after being encouraged to play by MBC physical education teacher Jay Willcox.
Willcox also coaches the school volleyball team that will travel to Melbourne.
“I’ve learnt pretty much everything from him,” Reinhardt said.
