MANDURAH’S junior council will bring Powder to the People to this year’s Children’s Festival, in the aim of getting the local youth more active.
Junior mayor Ryan White and deputy junior mayor Madison Boothey will presented a public statement of the obstacle-style event at Tuesday’s council meeting, which was quickly approved by councillors.
The event will have participants run around an obstacle course while volunteers throw non-toxic wheat based, washable paint powder at them.
“It will bring fun and enjoyment to the people of Mandurah," Ryan said.
“We’ve always thought of the youth and what they want to do and we think this is the best event for that.”
It will be held at the end of the October 26 festival, allowing for participants to register throughout the day.
While the event will be free, the junior council suggested there could be donation tin at the registration desk to raise funds of a charity, which is yet to be decided upon but will benefit children.
