It was the result none of the experts predicted; West Coast Eagle Matt Priddis claimed the 2014 Brownlow Medal.
Priddis becomes just the third Eagle to win a Brownlow Medal behind Ben Cousins and Chris Judd in 2004 and 2005.
The result was a shock to many with early season favourite Gary Ablett Jnr and Geelong's Joel Selwood expected to sit at the top come the end of round 23.
But it was Priddis, on 26 votes, out ahead of fellow West Australian player Nat Fyfe (deemed ineligible due to suspension) who polled the highest in season 2014.
It is the second individual honour for the Subiaco boy after he claimed the Sandover Medal in 2006 before he was drafted to the Eagles.
It was a good night for the Eagles with club legend Beau Waters taking out the prestigious Jim Stynes Award for his community work
A full wrap up on the Brownlow Medal is still to come.
