Hawthorn midfielder Jordan Lewis has bristled at the suggestion speed will be a distinct advantage for Port Adelaide in Saturday's second preliminary final at the MCG.
The Power's charge to the second-last week of the season has been propelled by its devastating running game.
At its height, it made Ken Hinkley's men almost invincible and catapulted them two games clear on top of the ladder after 12 rounds, with a 10-1 record.
After a two-month lull, it returned with a vengeance late in the year and has most recently left Richmond and Fremantle in Port Adelaide's wake.
But newly crowned All-Australian Lewis was more than confident the Hawks could match the Power in that department.
"We've got supreme confidence in our ability to play any style of game," Lewis said.
"You look at the guys like [Brad] Hill and Isaac Smith, they're pretty quick, Luke Breust is pretty quick, [Paul] Puopolo is pretty quick. You've got to win the ball on the inside, there's no doubt about that, but our outside game is as good as any side going around."
Lewis also talked up the exciting nature of Port's game.
"They play what I think is an exciting brand of football and a really attractive brand of football," Lewis said of the Power.
"I would say if you're a neutral supporter, get along because I think the football on Saturday afternoon will be played the way everyone wants it to be played.
"They've got some really flairy ... players so we're going to have to try and quell their influence on the contest, but it's going to be exciting and I'm really looking forward to it."
The Hawks are heading into their fourth consecutive preliminary final, but Lewis denied that wealth of September experience would be much of an advantage against a Port Adelaide team that has not made it to this stage of the season since 2007.
"We came into the finals series in 2008 having not played in a prelim final and we won the grand final," Lewis said. "Even history suggests this year that it's not going the way it's been planned over the last seven years."
Lewis said having Ben McEvoy, Matt Suckling and Cyril Rioli all pressing their claims for a selection recall this week was "a good headache to have".
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old said being finally awarded his first All-Australian jumper on Tuesday night was a feather in his cap, and served as validation for his hard work in the past 12 months.
"When you come here and you experience the night and you understand what it actually means, you probably get a sense of satisfaction I suppose," he said. "Certainly, it's been a long time. This is my 10th year going in but I've certainly felt a part of the AFL and been a good contributor for those 10 years."
