Police are on the hunt for the thief or thieves who killed a family's pet dog after a burglary in St James.
Thieves broke into the house on Burlington Street some time between 12.30pm and 7pm on June 28, police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said.
Several iPads and a 2007 Holden R8 Clubsport were stolen, as well as the family's Jack Russell, Jet.
The dog was found dead in Rivervale several hours later, while the car was found abandoned on Bourke Street in Leederville on July 7.
A spokeswoman said police believed the offenders intended to hurt the dog.
"It is very concerning that someone is willing to kill a defenceless animal in such a way," she said.
"You have to be worried about the mindset of such people."
