PINJARRA will face Mundijong in the Peel Football League grand final after Mundijong came from behind to defeat Waroona on Saturday.
Waroona led by three points at quarter-time and looked set to be on their way to a big win after kicking five goals to the Centrals' one in the second quarter, to extend their lead to 31 points.
The lead could have been more with Waroona kicking nine goals, nine behinds in the first half to the Centrals’ five goals, two behinds.
Centrals responded in the third quarter cutting the deficit to 13 points.
With spearhead Ryan Murphy leading the way for the Centrals with seven goals, Mundijong were able to come over the top of Waroona in the final quarter to run out six-point winners, 15.6 (96) to 13.12 (90).
Alan Wilson led the goal scorers for Waroona with six.
Centrals will now play Pinjarra, the side they lost to just two weeks ago, in the grand final on Saturday at 2.30pm.
In the Reserves, Waroona booked their place in the grand final with an eight-point win over South Mandurah.
Waroona were able to outscore South Mandurah in each of the first three quarters to lead by 21 points at three-quarter time.
South Mandurah came out fighting in the last quarter, kicking three goals while holding Waroona to just one, but it wasn’t enough to get over the line with Waroona winning, 10.8 (68) to 9.6 (60).
Mathew Mortimer led the goal scorers for Waroona with three.
Reece Price kicked two goals for South Mandurah to be the side’s only multiple goal scorer.
Waroona will now play Mundijong in the grand final.
The sides met in the semi-final two weeks ago with Mundijong winning by 19 points.
In the Colts, Waroona booked their place in the grand final following a 37-point win over Mandurah.
Waroona jumped out of the blocks kicking five goals, seven behinds in the first quarter to lead by 28 points.
Mandurah reduced the deficit to 23 at half time but it could have been less with Mandurah only able to kick one goal, six behinds.
Accuracy again hurt Mandurah in the third quarter with the Mustangs kicking two goals, three behinds to Waroona one goal to trail by 14 at three quarter time.
Waroona responded in the final quarter holding Mandurah scoreless to run out 37-point winners.
Waroona will meet Rockingham in the grand final.
The two sides met in the semi-final with Rockingham holding on to win by 15 points.
