SEVENTEEN students from Mandurah Catholic College took out the 14-kilometre schools challenge at the Act Belong Commit Dwellingup Mountain Bike Classic on Saturday.
It is the third consecutive year the school has won the division.
The winning school is determined by the number of students and where they finish.
The team had trained over two terms at several training rides in Dwellingup with teacher Justine Clarke and former student and rider Callum Hunter.
Hunter went on to place second in his age group for the 40km event on Saturday.
Mako MacPhearson said he enjoyed competing in the event.
“It was pretty wet and slippery but a lot of fun,” he said.
The main 100km event was won by Craig Cooke.
Cooke narrowly defeated highly touted interstate rider Ben Henderson with Jon Gregg in third in the 100km event.
In the female division, pre-race favourite Jenni King came in first ahead of Karena Wilson and Kristin West.
The 40km men’s event was won by Sam Rubery ahead of Nav Coole and James West with Sarah Tucknott winning the female event ahead of Carmen Solorzano.
