THREE men charged over an horrific bashing outside Murphy’s Irish Pub last month faced Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Craig Thomas Hitchcock, Calem Milburn-Thomas and Lochlan Milburn-Thomas were not required to plead to charges which include with intent to do grievous bodily harm does grievous bodily harm to another, obstructing police officers and criminal damage.
The court heard the trio was part of a larger group expelled from the pub following an altercation with another patron about 10pm on August 3.
Murphy’s staff members were forced to lock the doors and call police when the group failed to calm down.
Shortly after being evicted the three accused are alleged to have bashed a group of men so badly two were knocked out and one required emergency medical care and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital.
The three men allegedly punched and kicked their victims, leaving one with multiple fractures and a broken nose.
CCTV footage of the assault was said to be “quite horrific to watch” by the police prosecutor who told the court the attack continued even after one victim was unconscious.
In applying for altered bail conditions for his clients, the accused trio’s lawyer argued the injuries sustained by the victims of the attack were at the “lower end”.
But Magistrate Vivien Edwards referred to the charges as “very serious”.
Their lawyer also argued bail conditions were impinging on his clients’ social lives and asked for them to be relaxed.
He also asked for one of his clients to be allowed to go to the United Kingdom for two weeks.
This was refused by Magistrate Edwards, although she did lift a ban on the men drinking alcohol.
All three have curfew conditions and will face court again on October 3.
Another man charged over the assault will face court next week.
