PINJARRA caused an upset in the first round of the Peel Football League finals against Waroona on Sunday.
Pinjarra travelled to Waroona to face the Demons in their semi-final having lost to the Demons in their last two encounters; the most recent a 52-point thrashing two weeks ago.
However, Pinjarra didn’t let that deter them with the Tigers throwing everything at the Demons to run out 30-point winners.
The game was an arm wrestle in the opening half with Pinjarra leading by seven points at half time.
Pinjarra were able to hold Waroona scoreless in the third quarter while piling on four goals of their own to lead by 35 points heading into the last quarter.
Waroona outscored Pinjarra in the last but the damage had already been done with Pinjarra winning ,12.12 (84) to 8.6 (54).
Shane Norris kicked three goals for Pinjarra while Alan Wilson led the goal kicking list for Waroona with five.
Pinjarra will now play Centrals in a preliminary final this weekend.
The winner will advance to the grand final while the loser will have a second chance.
Waroona will face Halls Head in an elimination final after easily accounting for Baldivis in their elimination final.
After an inaccurate first quarter which saw Halls Head kick three goals, six behinds, Halls Head were able to hit the scoreboard in the second quarter with nine goals to lead by 56 points at half time.
Baldivis responded with six goals in the third quarter but still trailed by 35 points at three-quarter time.
Halls Head regained the momentum in the final quarter piling on another six goals to run-out 60-point winners, 21.20 (146) to 13.8 (86).
Clayton Collard was in top form for Halls Head with six goals while Peter Agostino kicked four goals for Baldivis.
Halls Head have played Waroona two times this season with the sides winning a game each.
Waroona won the most recent game in round 10 by 47 points; on that occasion Waroona set up the win with a seven-goal to two opening quarter.
The sides also met in round three with Halls Head running out 16-point winners on that occasion, 11.10 (76) to 8.12 (60).
In the Reserves, South Mandurah defeated Halls Head by 27 points in a low scoring game.
After trailing by six points at half time, South Mandurah were able to hold Halls Head to one goals in the second half while kicking six of their own to win 9.10 (64) to 4.13 (37).
South Mandurah will now play Centrals after they had the bye.
Halls Head will now play Waroona after narrowly defeating Baldivis by seven points.
Waroona started strongly to lead by 21 points at half time but Baldivis responded in the second half to reduce the deficit to 11 points at three-quarter time but were unable to get over the line, falling seven points short.
In the Colts, Mandurah defeated Halls Head by 49 points.
After trailing by one point at quarter-time Mandurah were able to run away with the game in a five-goal to one second quarter.
Mandurah will now play Baldivis in a elimination final.
It was the same result as the Reserves in Waroona’s final against Baldivis with Waroona coming from behind to win by seven points.
Baldivis started strongly to lead by 22 points at quarter-time but could only manage two more goals for the game as they were overrun by Waroona.
Waroona will play Rockingham in a preliminary final on Sunday.
