Police have issued a reminder to locals not to touch or move any suspicious looking objects; instead call police.
The warning comes after a man found a suspicious looking object, believed to be a missile or explosives in Mandurah on Tuesday and walked it to the Mandurah Police Station.
After the man presented it at the front counter, the station had to be cordoned off with bomb technicians advised and called to the scene.
While the item proved not dangerous, police say the incident is a reminder for all locals when it comes to potentially dangerous finds.
"If you see something that you think is dangerous, don't touch it, don't move it.," the police warning said.
"Ring the police; we offer a pretty good service and we will have experts come to the dangerous item.
"We would much rather that than you bring it to us, or try to bring it to us and not make it."
