STAFF members at Reading Cinemas Mandurah have raised funds for people living with motor neurone disease (MND) by taking part in the ice bucket challenge.
The challenge has taken over social media in recent weeks with participants required to nominate someone else to take part before a bucket of ice and water is poured over their head.
Cinema complex manager Nick Holmshaw said he wanted to nominate other Reading Cinema complexes across the nation to take part.
“It’s a great cause and we also want to get other Mandurah business on board,” he said.
More than $200,000 has been raised for the MND Research Institute of Australia so far.
MND is a progressive, terminal neurological disease with no known cure or effective treatment and sufferers gradually lose the use of their limbs and ability to speak, breathe and swallow.
