SCHOOL was in for Spiderman, Cat in the Hat and Frozen’s Queen Elsa on Friday when Ocean Road Primary School held their Book Week parade.
Unlike some other schools, both teachers and students dressed up for the annual event.
“We encourage the teachers to get involved because the students and families love to see it,” principal Dean Finlay said.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about promoting reading and literature.
“It’s a real priority to the school to encourage a love of reading.”
The Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book Week has been going in Australia since 1945 and every year thousands of primary schools take part.
This year’s theme is Connect to Reading, which was created by the Children’s Book Council’s 2013 Picture Book Award winner, Ron Brooks.
Connect to Reading is about enjoying the experience of exploring story, and travelling to other worlds.
