THE Mandurah Board Riders’ fourth senior contest of the season was met with one of the best swells of the year at the Falcon reef break of Gearies on the weekend.
The seniors’ competition has been running a floating fixture this season with no start day or time locked for competition until the club can ensure the best conditions.
In the good conditions it was Ace Van Peer who surfed consistently all to edge out his older competitors and take home the win.
The win has kept the overall points contest alive with two rounds remaining.
Harry Macpherson took out second place; his day included one of the best runs of the day.
The local surfer scored a nine-point ride after he caught a wave from outside ‘Shark Pits’ and linked through to Gearies.
Third place getter Mark Slaughter was able to emerge from a big tube in the open semi final to earn the highest heat score for the entire day.
Brendon Collison currently leads the standings.
Club president Brian Williams built momentum throughout his masters final to show all other members’ what he is capable of surfing like in good waves.
The club will be celebrating its 35th year anniversary at the Cobblers Tavern on Saturday at 7pm.
Tickets can be purchased at Mandurah Star Surf and Skate before the night.
The club will honour individuals from the clubs history.
