WEST Australian Daniel Ricciardo has claimed his second Formula One Grand Prix victory for the year in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
It was a thrilling race for the Red Bull driver who took the top spot in the last few laps on Sunday.
Held in Hungary, the venue did not disappoint with a wet start causing crashes and two safety cars to come onto the track.
Ricciardo started in fourth position and led the way twice before having to recapture first place in a thrilling end to the event.
It’s Ricciardo’s first year with Red Bull and has more championship points then the 2013 defending champion and team mate Sebastian Vettel.
Ricciardo also took out the title in Canada and sits third on the world championship ladder.
"This feels just as good as the first one," said Ricciardo. "It was a lot of fun in the last few laps, with the passing. I had to go for it."
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg showed off their rivalry with the team radio not helping with the two changing strategies.
Hamilton started the race from the pit lane and had an impressive finish with third place.
He managed to hold off Rosberg who was trying to pass him in the dying minutes of the race.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso finished second after making the risky decision to not pit towards the end of the race.
He was able to hold Hamilton who was also struggling with old tyres.
Ricciardo said he would celebrate the win for a few days and enjoy the mid-season break.
