SEVEN goals to Dean Buszan helped Halls Head secure a 30-point win over the Mandurah Mustangs on Saturday.
Halls Head led by eight points at the end of the first quarter with that lead growing to 16 points at half-time.
In a much improved effort from the Mustangs they were well and truly in the game follwing a good third quarter, trailing by 11 points heading into the last.
However, Halls Head showed their class in the last term kicking five goals to Mandurah’s two to run-out 30-point winners, 15.12 (102) to 10.12 (72).
Clayton Collard supported Buszan with three goals.
Halls Head have remained in fourth place following the win.
It was a round for the full forwards with Alan Wilson kicking nine goals for Waroona in their 96-point win over Rockingham.
Waroona kicked six goals in each of the opening three quarters while Rockingham could only manage six goals across the three quarter to have Waroona in front by 83 points heading into the last quarter.
The goal scoring slowed up in the last quarter with Waroona running out 96-point winners, 21.14 (140) to 7.2 (44).
Waroona remained in second place following the win with Rockingham in seventh.
Ryan Murphy kicked seven goals in Centrals’ huge win over South Mandurah.
Finals contender South Mandurah were no match for top-of-the-ladder Centrals with Central piling on 23 goals to win by 95 points, 23.12 (150) to 8.7 (55).
Centrals led by 21 points at quarter-time with the margin increasing to 49 by half-time.
Centrals continued their dominance in the second half to outscore South Mandurah in every quarter.
The big win saw Centrals’ percentage grow to 182.12.
Despite the loss, South Mandurah has remained in fifth position.
Pinjarra came from behind to defeat Baldivis by 13 points in slippery conditions.
Pinjarra started strongly to lead by seven points at quarter-time.
Baldivis regained the lead in the second holding onto a one-point lead at half-time.
Neither team scored in the third quarter with Baldivis still clinging to the one-point lead.
In the end poor kicking hurt Baldivis with Pinjarra running out 13-point winners, 10.13 (73) to 7.18 (60).
Pinjarra held on to third position with Baldivis still two wins behind South Mandurah in sixth.
In Reserves Waroona defeated Rockingham, Halls Head thrashed Mandurah, Centrals were too strong for South Mandurah and Baldivis defeated Pinjarra.
In the Colts, Halls Head defeated Mandurah, Rockingham was too good for Waroona, South Mandurah defeated Centrals and Baldivis thrashed Pinjarra.
This weekend Mandurah take on Waroona, Baldivis play Rockingham, South Mandurah come up against Pinjarra and Halls Head take on Centrals.
