A HOLDEN sedan flipped on its roof and crashed into a fence at a time witnesses said was often busy with school children walking home on Friday afternoon.
Tom Goldsworthy was mowing his lawns when he heard a loud bang about 2.50pm.
When he turned around he saw a Holden sedan flipped upside down and smashed into his neighbour’s fence on the corner of Berrigan Row and Melaleuca Terrace in Halls Head.
A big chunk of the fence had been demolished and debris was strewn along the footpath and the road.
“It was a hell of a bang,” Mr Goldsworthy said.
Mr Goldsworthy said it was lucky no one was walking along the footpath at the time of the crash.
Jim Shreeve, the man who lived at the property where the car crashed, had been picking up his child from school at the time.
When he returned home he said “I didn’t know what the hell had happened”.
His wife was inside the house at the time but said the house could have been saved by a big tree just behind the fence.
Police, ambulance and a towing service all attended the crash scene but there were no major injuries reported.
Investigations are continuing.
