The Department of Parks and Wildlife is today conducting a prescribed burn to manage bushfire risk.
Smoke may be visible from this burn approximately 18 kilometres south/south-west of Dwellingup
Motorists should take care, turn on headlights and carefully follow traffic management signs when driving through areas affected by smoke.
People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances.
According to the Department, prescribed burns create low-fuel areas in a mosaic of burnt and unburnt patches across the landscape, which help stem the spread of bushfires.
Prescribed burning is the primary tool available to Parks and Wildlife to manage fuel loads, which helps protect the community by minimising the impact of bushfires.
Details of the burns are available on Parks and Wildlife’s website at dpaw.wa.gov.au
