PEEL Thunder must be thankful Brendon Jones came out of retirement and chose to continue his football career with a standout season.
Jones has been in fantastic form for the Thunder as the only Peel player to have played every game this season.
Jones announced his retirement in 2013 and signed with Peel Football League club Halls Head in December before being coerced out of retirement the following month. The 28-year-old signed a one-year deal to keep him at Bendigo Bank Stadium and on current form has the ability to go again if he chose to.
Jones’ consistency could see him win his second best and fairest award at the club after claiming the award in 2012.
He was runner-up in 2013, 2011 and 2010 as well as winning Perth’s best and fairest award in 2008.
This season Jones has averaged 23 disposals a game and leads the club for kicks, handballs and tackles.
Only Fremantle Dockers’ rookie Jacob Ballard averages more disposals a game.
Jones has been named one of Peel’s best nine times this season and would be well and truly in contention for the best and fairest award with a number of players in and out of the Fremantle line-up.
