ROCKINGHAM had their first taste of defeat for 2012 after losing at home to Waroona on Sunday in the Peel Football League.
The Rams were one game away from a perfect season, but were heavily defeated by the Demons 16.9 (105) to 6.9 (45).
The Demons started the better of the two sides and were out to an early 18-point lead by the first change.
That margin was extended in the second as the Rams went into half-time 29 points down and the upset appeared on the cards.
The Rams came out firing in the third but couldn’t bridge the gap heading into the final term.
The Demons took their game to another level in the last as they restricted the Rams to just one goal for the quarter.
The 60-point win showed the rest of the competition reigning champions Waroona are serious finals contenders.
Alan Wilson kicked four goals for the Demons while Dane Ugle had three for the Rams.
In the other matches of the round South Mandurah head into this year’s finals series full of confidence after a 61-point win over Pinjarra.
The win ensured the Tigers would sit out September action as the Falcons recorded their 10th win of the season.
The Tigers were in the match early as the Falcons were wasteful in front of goal, recording 3.7 for the opening term.
In front of their home crowd, the Tigers roared back into contention, kicking four goals for the second to remain just five points down at the main break.
But it was the Falcons who responded after half-time as they extended their lead to 17 points heading into the last term.
And from there, it was one-way traffic as the Falcons scored seven goals.
As the forward line fired, so did the defence, conceding just one goal for the term.
The final margin blew out in the last in the 17.19 (121) to 9.6 (60) win.
Vice-captain Rod Tregenza kicked eight goals to lead his side on the scorecard while Clint Heal slotted five.
Sean Starkey was the pick of the Tigers’ forwards with three goals.
Baldivis recorded a big 50-point win at home despite Mandurah jumping out to an early lead.
The Mustangs had six goals for the first term as the Brumbies couldn’t get into the match.
A quarter-time rev up changed the momentum of the game as the Brumbies jumped into the lead.
The Mustangs did not match their first term effort as they failed to score a major for the quarter.
From half-time, the Brumbies were never challenged as they kicked away in the second half.
Mandurah could only manage four goals in three quarters after their opening effort as the Brumbies finished 18.14 (122) to 10.12 (72) winners.
Peter Agostino kicked six goals to continue his great form while captain Michael McCann slotted four.
For the Mustangs Aaron Thomas kicked four and he was well-supported by Travis Murphy with three.
Centrals have secured the last place in the finals series with a massive 131-point win over Halls Head at Merlin Street on Sunday.
Centrals were never challenged in the match as Halls Head bowed out of this year’s competition without much fight.
Mundijong had nine goals in the opening term and another six in the second to open up a 67-point lead at the main break.
The break did nothing to quell Centrals momentum as they kicked 10 goals in the third term.
By three-quarter-time, Halls Head were well out of the match as Centrals cruised to a 31.8 (194) to 9.9 (63) win.
Goals were shared amongst a number of players for Centrals as Daniel Wilson kicked nine, Ryan Henley had five, Ryan Murphy claimed four and doubles were recorded by Matthew Wray, Mathew Wilson, Brad Bootsma, Shane Wilkinson and Callum Marshall.
