War medals are among valuables missing after a suspicious fire in Embleton hours before Anzac Day.
The residents, a newly married couple, returned home to find their kitchen destroyed by fire and valuables missing.
Neighbours heard the alarm at the Burnett Street home at 12.15pm on Tuesday and saw smoke coming from the house, WA Police spokeswoman Susan Usher said.
The neighbours entered through the kitchen window and put out the fire using a garden hose prior to emergency services arriving.
Police believe unknown people entered the home and stole jewellery, electronic equipment and medals which belonged to the home owner and his father, before setting fire to the kitchen.
The owners had just returned from their honeymoon holidays after getting married weeks earlier.
