MORGAN Payne has found her reason to run in one of HBF’s biggest fundraising events.
The 21-year-old was diagnosed with type one diabetes when she was 10 years old and is using this year’s HBF Run for a Reason to raise money and awareness for the disease.
“It would be great to get other people with type one diabetes to get behind the fundraiser and either do it themselves as well or get behind us,” Ms Payne said.
Diabetes Western Australia is one of the official charity partners in next month’s HBF Run for a Reason and helps people who are in a similar position to Ms Payne.
The Secret Harbour resident said she chose to run in support of Diabetes WA as she feels a diagnosis can bring someone down quite easily without adequate support.
Ms Payne said fundraising for the organisation means that no one with diabetes needs to feel alone.
This is the second time her, and mum Jayne Payne have taken on the run, this time opting for the 12-kilometre trek.
“We run all the time,” Ms Payne said.
“We did the 4km one last year and we wanted a bit more of a challenge this year.”
The pair are hoping to top last year’s efforts of about $750 and have already got the family business, Payne Realty behind their efforts.
