WESTERN Australia Gold went through the first round of the under 15s boys Australian Hockey Championship undefeated.
Mandurah hockey player Marshall Puzey is playing for WA Gold which has won its three pool games to finish on top of Pool B.
The championship started last Saturday and will run to April 20 at Lark Hill Sports Complex.
WA Gold defeated Tasmania 10-0, Australian Capital Territory 6-0 and narrowly got over the line to Queensland (2) 2-1.
The top two teams from the three pools advanced to the next stage with WA Gold pitted against New South Wales 2 on Wednesday.
WA Gold made it four wins from four games with a 4-0 victory.
WA Gold will play OLD 1 today and QLD 2 on Saturday with the top two teams playing off in a final on Sunday.
There are two WA teams in the national competition with WA 2 having mixed results.
They went down to Victoria 8-3, drew with South Australia 2-2 and lost to New South Wales (2) 5-2.
WA 2 will now play off for the plate.
The team won their first plate game against Victoria 2, 6-2.
