Esperance got its 15 minutes of fame on national radio on Thursday morning, when Triple J presenter Matt Okine performed an original rap about the city.
The tounge-in-cheek song was part of a regular Thursday segment where Okine, who fronts the breakfast show alongside Alex Dyson, dedicates a rap to an Australian regional town or city.
"The freshest beaches in the western, no wonder everyone is so keen to get to Esperance," rapped Okine.
The station didn't fail to mention the 1979 sky lab crash.
"What's a town to do, so they sent NASA a $400 fine," he rapped.
"Maybe we will see you with your moped swag rolling down Dempster."
"I'll pay anything just to get there - homey, I don't care the expense."
