TWO Port Bouvard Surf Life Saving club members have brought home bronze medals from the Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships in Perth on April 5.
In total five local lifesavers competed in the prestigious event which has been running since 1915.
Sharon Davis won a bronze in the masters event with Bruce Ridley claiming bronze in the under 19s men’s two kilometre event.
It was the first Aussies masters’ medal and the first senior medal for the Peel area.
Port Bouvard SLSC’s medal success at this year’s event capped off a successful season where the club won 29 medals at the Country Championships at Trigg Island and two golds and a bronze at the Senior States in Scarborough.
Coach Ross Shepherd said he was proud of the athlete’s achievements.
“This year, Aussies in Perth boasted over 5000 athletes from around Australia,” he said.
“For a small club like ours to come away with medals is a great success and I can’t wait to see what the club can achieve next year.”
