CYBER bullying and deciding what’s appropriate to share online can be tricky paths to navigate safely so Mandurah Catholic College (MCC) students took part in a cybersafety session on Monday.
The session, run by cyber bullying expert Susan McLean, looked into the laws surrounding ‘sexting’, sending and receiving explicit photos and the danger of online predators.
“It’s about getting them to think of their digital reputation, which is extremely important when they’re going for a job or university placement after leaving school,” Ms McLean said.
“A lot of the work I do centres around cyber cullying and online harassment and my advice for anyone in that situation would be to speak up and tell an adult because they shouldn’t tolerate it.
“Parents should also be involved with that their kids do online and let their children know they can come and talk to them if there’s an issue.”
MCC held three sessions on Monday, with one for year sevens and eight students, one for year 11 and 12 students and one for parents.
