IT’S Shrove Tuesday, also known as World Pancake Day and Uniting Church volunteers headed down to Bunnings Mandurah this morning to cook up lots of pancakes for charity.
Reverend Ian Pearse, Marg Jaggs and Shirley Joiner were “battling to keep up” with orders for $2 pancakes this morning.
“Funds raised today will go to Uniting Outreach Mandurah, a service for the community that provides emergency relief, school lunches and other help to those in need,” Mr Pearse said.
“This is the way we connect with the community.”
The group have an arrangement with IGA Silver Sands, who they purchased the pancake mix and other goods from at a reduced rate.
Shrove Tuesday preceeds Ash Wednesday and is traditionally known for indulging before the 40 days of Lent.
