FAMILY members of both murdered Mandurah man Tauri Litchfield and the five boys accused of his murder are on tenterhooks this morning with the fate of one of the youths hanging in the balance.
Judge Denis Reynolds called for an hour-long adjournment while prosecutors sought to strengthen their case for a murder charge against the boy.
Five boys have been charged with Mr Litchfield’s murder after the 28-year-old fell and suffered fatal head injuries in a Pinjarra Road carpark in March 2013.
It has been alleged the group of boys chased Mr Litchfield, stole his mobile phone and assaulted him while he was on the ground.
The trial has also heard evidence that the group of boys fled the crime scene, failed to call for any medical assistance for Mr Litchfield and later discussed the incident both out of and in custody.
If the murder charge is thrown out, the boy could be free within days.
