MANDJAR Square will come alive next weekend with an innovative project set to dazzle locals.
Street Projection Art Mandurah (SPAM) is described as a “contemporary light spectacle” which will see local artists use buildings and sculptures around the entertainment precinct as a canvas,
Creative designs will be digitally projected during the three-night event which will start at 7.30pm on January 10, 11 and 12.
“We are excited to bring an event like this to Mandurah and growing it over the coming years,” event planner and Community Solutions chief Rhys Williams said.
“This event is part of our ‘activate Mandurah’ campaign and, like our Smart Street Parties, is aimed at creating a buzz of culture and activity around our city.”
The only event of its kind in Western Australia and one of only two in Australia, SPAM is tipped to become an annual celebration in Mandurah’s growing arts and cultural scene.
SPAM is a free event and will feature guest DJs on each night.
The Mandurah Performing Arts Centre bar will be open during the project.
