A MAN has been rushed to hospital following a serious crash on Pinjarra Road this evening.
The accident happened shortly before 8pm when a driver, reported by police to be in his early 20s, lost control of his Holden utility after turning right off Sholl Street.
The man slammed into a light pole which fell across the road into oncoming traffic.
Police said the driver's airbag was activated before the man got out of his car and fell to the ground unconscious.
Emergency crews arrived and the police helicopter was called to stand by.
The man was stabilised at the scene before the helicopter was stood down.
He was taken to Peel Health Campus with injuries not believed to be life threatening.
Police said no alcohol was involved but they will investigate if speed was a factor.
No other injuries were reported.

In related news, a man was taken into custody by police at the scene of the crash after a fight broke out among onlookers.
Two men were involved in the punch-up which saw police wrestle both to the ground.
At this stage it is not clear if charges will be laid.
