MORE than 30 families joined together for the Mandurah Surf Life Saving Club’s annual beach clean-up day.
Held on September 8, the group cleaned the beach and its surrounding area from the fourth groyne to the Karinga Road carpark in San Remo.
Described as an “important event in the club calendar” by club officials, it is an event that prepares the club for the season ahead.
Plastic bags and glass bottles took the majority of the bag space but other items found included car tyres, an old gas bottle and a very “tattered” couch.
The clean-up event was supported by the City of Mandurah and Bakers Delight.
The clean-up day also marked the opening of the Tides Café at the club’s new building.
The café will be open every Sunday morning from 8.30am with more hours expected during summer.
