CONSTRUCTION is about to begin to bring the National Broadband Network (NBN) to another 700 Mandurah households and businesses.
Work is already underway to bring the NBN to 24,700 premises in central Mandurah, Secret Harbour, Golden Bay, Meadow Springs, Madora Bay, Singleton, San Remo, Coodanup, Greenfields, Barragup, Furnissdale and Halls Head. Further work is also underway in Yunderup.
NBN on Tuesday released a map that shows NBN fibre will be rolled out to further parts of Greenfields in addition to Halls Head, central Mandurah, Secret Harbour, Golden Bay, Meadow Springs, Madora Bay, Singleton and San Remo, Coodanup, Barragup and Furnissdale.
Brand MP Gray Gray said the NBN was to prepare Australia for the future.
“It’s about ensuring that our local communities in places like Greenfields are not left behind as the world and our local economy changes,” Mr Gray said.
“From seeing your local doctor from home, to your kids being able to take a specialist class at another school – the NBN will change the way we live, work, and access services. It will lead to a new wave of innovation, and I’m delighted that people in the Mandurah area will be among the first to benefit.”
“The release of this map means that further work is starting in the Mandurah area and over the next few months, we’ll start to see NBN workers locally doing the detailed planning and inspection work, and then rolling out the fibre.
