DETECTIVES and officers from the Major Crash Squad are at the shocking scene of an alleged hit and run tonight in Lakelands.
A 40-year-old man has died as a result of critical injuries sustained after being hit by a vehicle on Catalina Drive about 6.30pm
The man was rushed to Peel Health Campus but died a short time ago.
Police are saying the victim and the driver of the car were known to each other and there are suggestions a domestic dispute preceded the crash.
The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident and it is not yet clear if police have made an arrest.
The identity of the driver has not been released by police.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang before seeing the man fall to the ground.
Forensics officers are expected to attend the scene overnight.
Roadblocks are in place.
