Reminder to claim for food loss

LOCAL MLA David Templeman is reminding people to claim for food loss during the recent power outages from last fortnight’s storm.

“People can claim for spoilage of food if they lost power for between 12 hours and 48 hours.” Mr Templeman said

If you experienced a power outage of 12 hours or more you are eligible to claim $80. Customers who had a power outage of more than 48 hours can claim a payment of $160.

“I urge people to make a claim if they went without power for 12 or 48 hours. It can cost a lot to replace a fridge/freezer full of food and this compensation will at least help towards the replacement of fresh food and meat items.” Mr Templeman said.
