Peel Thunder coach given the boot

PEEL Thunder head coach Trevor Williams has today “been released effectively immediately” of his duties, according to the club.

In a statement released by club president John Ditchburn, it said “this was a very difficult decision and not one that the board has taken lightly”.

“Trevor Williams has been a huge part of the history of the Peel Thunder Football Club, including two premierships as coach of the colts in 2004 and 2005,” Mr Ditchburn said.

“Trevor is greatly respected by all involved with Peel Thunder.”

Ditchburn conceded key performance indicators were not met.

“Unfortunately the performances of the senior squad this year have been well below these expectations,” he said.

The decision follows a 91-point drubbing at the hands of Swan Districts at home on Saturday.

Former league assistant coach Mark Moody will be the caretaker coach for the remainder of the 2012 season.
