Crash in Falcon

THE intersection of Mercedes Avenue and Old Coast Road in Falcon has again come into question after a crash on Monday morning.

It is the second crash at the intersection in less than a month, despite traffic lights controlling traffic flow.

A Hyundai Getz and a Mitsubishi Magna collided at 9am, with both cars blocking traffic attempting to turn left onto Old Coast Road from Mercedes Avenue.

St John Ambulance officers were on the scene treating one of the drivers for shock but there were no serious injuries reported.

The two crashes at the same intersection follow similar incidents across Old Coast Road in recent months.

A 30-year-old motorcyclist was knocked unconscious following a crash in Erskine in May, a man in his mid-40s sustained serious injuries after a crash in Falcon in April and a 72-year-old sustained minor injuries at a collision in Falcon in March.

Despite the recent collisions, Main Roads WA has no plans to increase traffic lights on the stretch of Old Coast Road from Peelwood Parade to Mercedes Avenue.
