A GREENFIELDS man who sent more than 150 calls and texts to his ex-partner was placed on a pre-sentence order in Mandurah Magistrates Court today.
Aaron Kevin Wadley, 38, previously pleaded guilty to aggravated stalking after his victim received “thousands of phone calls and texts” and had to change her phone number three times.
Lawyer Brian Mahon said his client would be suitable for a pre-sentence order following a psychological report.
Mr Mahon said his client had spent six days in Hakea Prison while on remand and did not believe an immediate term of imprisonment was suitable for him.
Magistrate Vivien Edwards said before today she thought to “impose an immediate term of imprisonment” but would place Mr Wadley on a pre-sentence order for nine months.
Magistrate Edwards said there was a risk he wouldn’t comply as he had breached violence restraining orders and a suspended imprisonment order in the past.
“You have been on strict bail conditions since November 27 and there has been no indication you breached them,” she said.
“Therefore I am willing to place you on a pre-sentence order.
“If you put a foot wrong that will be the end.
“You will be off the order and you will be in prison.”
Mr Wadley is due to face sentencing for the charge on October 22 and will be subject to regular reviews during that time.
His first review will be on February 12.
