THE new Mandurah Indoor Market has been deemed a success after locals flocked to the multi-sports grounds to buy and sell everything from plants to baby clothes.
Created by Michelle Jones and Nicole Dean, the swift decision to set-up shop came after the women thought Mandurah needed a place for small businesses to extend their range of customers and to gain more exposure.
“I keep hearing from everyone coming in to the market, ‘Mandurah really needed this’,” Mrs Dean said.
“We did exactly what people said Mandurah needed and the results are obvious.
“It’s a place to take the kids and have a great day to shop, with entertainment from balloon twisters and face painters keeping the children interested and a wide range of new and handmade items, plants and more.”
A sausage sizzle, fairy floss and a fully licensed sports bar were just some of the attractions touted for the new market which launched on March 3.
The market is open on the first Saturday of every month at the Mandurah Indoor Sportz Centre.
“We have no intention to move,” Mrs Dean said.
“We have the fully licenced bar here and with summer returning we can open up the outside patio area for more entertainment for the children and allow for more stalls to be a part of the growing market.
“Right now we have 45 to 50 stalls which really extends what can be bought so it’s great to have such a diverse range to pick from if folks are popping by for a visit.
“We’re excited, with the money raised, to start putting it back in to the community to help small stall owners gain exposure through the market and expand our market for the benefit of the community.”
The next Mandurah Indoor Market is open from 8am-2pm on June 2.
