THE State Regional Dragon Boat Team trained in Mandurah earlier this month in preparation for the National Championships being held in Melbourne.
Four members of the Mandurah Vikings Dragon Boat Club will be part of the West Australian Regional Team.
Angie Menna, Rochelle Bishop, Brett Jones and Nick Celenza will be joining Dragon Boaters from Bunbury and Albany to compete at Melbourne Docklands for the national titles.
Two boats from the Mandurah Vikings Dragon Boat Club were taken out on the water for the training session in the Mandurah canals and estuary.
“It was a very enjoyable training session for the whole team,” Angie Menna said.
“Mandurah is a beautiful setting and has some ideal spots for dragon boat training with the canals providing some shelter from the winds.
“Mandurah is very different from where the other teams usually train and they all enjoyed paddling on the Mandurah waterways.”
The state regional team leaves for Docklands in Melbourne today to compete against teams from across Australia.
