Opposed to Mardi Gras idea

23 Dec, 2008 03:04 PM
I AM horrified at Mandurah City councillor John Hughes’ idea to include a Mardi Gras parade into Mandurah's festival and events program.

I disagree that Mandurah would benefit from having a parade that celebrates homosexuality, and who’s “general objective is to raise the visibility of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer communities.” (quote taken from new Mardi Gras website).

Why is the city council even suggesting, let alone approving an idea which thousands of people in this community are morally and socially apposed to?

I suggest that those councillors who want to participate in a parade of this sort, move to Northbridge.
