REMEMBER when we had competition in the petrol market?
Nowadays the competition seems to revolve around who will be the first to jack up their prices.
Now with Woolworths entering the hardware market it looks like the competition will be wiped out there too.
Australian’s are mugs if they can’t see that it’s a case of the big getting bigger at the expense of small business.
If you don’t believe me go ask the people who once ran the services stations and suburban hardware stores.
It’s happening all over Australia and now our council want to give the big retailers, who already control the petrol and liquor markets, a helping hand by increasing retail trading hours in winter.
People live in Mandurah because they don’t like living in Perth, or Sydney or Melbourne for the matter.
So why do our Councillors want Mandurah to be like these places?
Yet again it’s a case of the almighty might dollar ahead of everything else.
Fair go.
