Peel hockey players go international

29 Oct, 2009 08:58 AM
THREE Peel Hockey players are set to play on the international hockey stage after being selected in the Australian Country team.

Mandurah’s Lance Wiggers, Paul Morrissey and Adam Williamson qualified for the national team after strong performances at the Australian Men's Country Championships held in Tamworth in August.

At the championships Western Australia finished runner-up, losing the grand final to New South Wales.

Including Wiggers, Morrissey and Williamson Peel had six players in the WA team.

The other players were Paul Bolger, Sean Griffiths and Chad Giles.

Alex Wenn was selected but had to withdraw.

Williamson was named captain of the Australian country hockey team that is set to tour Singapore and Hong Kong in April next year.

Peel Hockey Association’s Alisha Williams has also been selected to represent Australia as an umpire in the under 21 Pacific Games to be held in Fiji in December.
